Kampwater replaced an existing resin treatment system in 2019 at Two-a-Day with a state-of-the-art nanofiltration (NF) system to treat water from the Theewaterskloof Dam. The initial NF system had a capacity of 12kL per hour, and this year, Kampwater will upgrade the system to 32kL per hour by adding an additional 20kL NF unit to the existing 12kL system. The treated water will be used for both drinking water and process water within the facility.
Nanofiltration offers key advantages over resin treatment, providing superior water quality by removing a wider range of contaminants, including salts, organics, and microorganisms. It reduces chemical use, lowering operational costs and environmental impact. Nanofiltration is also more energy-efficient, with longer-lasting membranes that require less maintenance. Additionally, the system’s scalability, demonstrated by the upgrade to a 32kL/hour capacity, allows Two-a-Day to easily meet growing water demands while ensuring high-quality, sustainable water treatment.
