Project Overview

Kampwater successfully completed the installation of a 12kL per hour nanofiltration (NF) system for a platinum mine facing challenges with extremely hard water. The NF system was specifically designed to reduce water hardness by 80%, providing a more efficient solution than traditional softeners. Nanofiltration was chosen for its superior ability to remove hardness while retaining essential minerals, offering several key advantages. Firstly, NF significantly reduces the use of chemicals compared to a conventional softener, lowering operational costs and environmental impact. Secondly, it produces less wastewater, making it a more sustainable choice in water-scarce mining environments. Finally, NF requires less frequent maintenance, leading to lower long-term maintenance costs and minimizing production downtime. This system has not only improved the mine’s water quality but also enhanced the overall efficiency of their operations, ensuring a reliable and cost-effective water supply.
